STAR WARS Actor Hayden Christensen Shares His Experience Binging THE CLONE WARS and REBELS
When Hayden Christensen was asked to reprise his role of Darth Vader in Lucasfilm’s series Obi-Wan Kenobi, the actor went and binge-watched the two animated Star Wars shows that told more of the story of his character, Anakin Skywalker.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he shared, "I went back and rewatched all the films, and I also got into the animated shows, The Clone Wars and Rebels."
This might have been the first time that he has watched these shows and when talking about his experience, he said, "It was interesting ... They did a lot with these characters in those shows. And they did further explore the relationship. There was interesting stuff there to learn about. It was great fun getting to go back and re-immerse yourself in this world that just continues to grow and become more and more vast."
I imagine it must have been such a cool experience to play Darth Vader again opposite Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. Seeing these two characters reunite again after all these years is going to be an amazing experience for fans!
When previously talking about his own experience coming back to the role, Christiensen said, "It was mostly a lot of excitement because I had spent enough time with this character and felt like I knew him, and coming back to it felt very natural in a lot of ways. And I was just really excited to get to come in and play Darth Vader at this point in the timeline because it did feel like a natural continuation of your journey with the character. And that was very meaningful for me."
The series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series also stars Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.
The first 2 episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on Friday, May 27, 2022.
