STAR WARS Actors Mark Hamill and Natalie Portman Meet at Awards Show; Hamill Says, "I Have Finally Met My Mother"
Despite how you may feel about Hollywood awards shows, or the projects that won or lost this past Sunday night, one awesome thing happened behind the scenes at this weekend’s Golden Globes that just warms the heart of any Star Wars fan. Mark Hamill, who presented an award that night, was able to meet fellow presenter and Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman.
While fans of Hamill know him best as Luke Skywalker, most fans of Portman know her for her award-winning roles like Black Swan, Jackie, or this year’s May December. Others have enjoyed her quirky roles in films like The Professional or Garden State, but Star Wars fans will always remember that she played Queen Padmé Amidala in Star Wars Episodes 1-3, where she became the love interest of the future Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), and the mother of Luke and Leia.
But it wasn’t until this week that Hamill and Portman actually crossed paths, which is surprising because you’d think they would have met at one of the film’s premieres or a Star Wars fan event, but it’s true. The pair decided to take a photo to mark the occasion, and Hamill shared it on his socials, stating, “Now I have finally met my "mother", thanks to the @goldenglobes.
