STAR WARS Bladebuilders — Customizable Lightsabers From Hasbro
As a kid, you've only got one option when it comes to officially licensed lightsabers and that's to get a replica from the Star Wars movies or animated shows. This fall, Hasbro is releasing a line called "Bladebuilders" that lets kids custom build lightsabers to the extent that a cross-guard looks unambitious.
Kim Boyd, senior director of the Star Wars brand for Hasbro, spoke to USA Today about the new toy line:
"Star Wars is such a magical property and in particular the lightsaber is — and I think everyone would agree — the most iconic weapon of all time. This is the first time we've given kids the chance to customize through an entire system."
Hasbro's research showed that kids are very interested in customization and Bladebuilders will give kids the ability to create their own unique lightsabers. There is a kind of builder starter kit that comes with some interesting handles and extensions. The basic movie replica lightsaber is also part of Bladebuilders, but it can be broken down into components and remixed with others.
This seems like the perfect Christmas gift for creative young Star Wars fans who lack the skills and tools to build one from scratch.
