STAR WARS: Daisy Ridley Confirms Kathleen Kennedy is "Very Involved" With Rey Spinoff Movies Despite Retirement Rumors
There has been a lot of news around President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, the past two weeks. After rumors that she was looking toward retirement, Kennedy herself confirmed that she is not only not looking to retire, but she is hoping to continue making movies the rest of her life.
She has since given several updates about the Star Wars films that are in various stages of production, showing her involvement.
Now, Daisy Ridley, who is working closely with Kennedy as the star of the upcoming film, Star Wars: New Jedi Order, has confirmed that the CEO is very involved in the process of creating this new film.
Ridley told The Direct at the SXSW premiere for her film We Bury the Dead, "I believe that she's very involved. I think there was reporting that was not true. So yeah, very [involved]."
When asked when filming is expected to begin on the now-delayed new entry, Ridley simply stated, "I don't know."
Star Wars: New Jedi Order was shooting for a 2026 release date, but things are up in the air. I’m sure we will hear more next month at Star Wars Celebration.
