STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Has Wrapped Production and J.J. Abrams Has Shared a Photo
Director J.J. Abrams has wrapped production on Star Wars: Episode IX, and to celebrate he shared a photo from the set of the film. That photo features Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Fin, and Oscar Isaac as Poe. It also came along with the caption:
“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”
Well, it’s going to be really interesting to see what Abrams delivers with this film. What questions will it answer? How will this epic saga that started in 1977 come to a close? Will it do the franchise justice? Will fans love it or hate it? Will it unite the fans or divide them even more!? Only time will tell, but as a fan, I can’t wait to see it! I’m hoping for the best!
The movie also stars returning cast members Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant, who will be joined by veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, who will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian.
The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher, using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” says Abrams. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”
Composer John Williams, who has scored every chapter in the Star Wars saga since 1977’s A New Hope, will return to a galaxy far, far away with Episode IX.
Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th.
