STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Won't Get a Super Bowl Trailer, but Here's What Trailers We Will See
We’re at that time of year when millions of people watch a bunch of commercials between football plays. With so many people watching, the ads have come to be ridiculous, and from movie studios, fans expect to see some big trailers.
Last year we got the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and this year many fans are hoping to see their first glimpse of Star Wars: Episode IX. However, according to Deadline, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. They’re hearing from sources that Disney doesn’t see a need to use the Super Bowl to achieve a huge amount of views as “this year the thinking is that Episode IX can feasibly create its own event whenever Disney decides to launch the trailer; it doesn’t need a big 103M-viewed event…”
That doesn’t mean we won’t get anything from Disney though. After all, we have Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, Aladdin, and Dumbo coming from them this year, and any of them would be a good pick for a Super Bowl ad.
Then there’s Universal Pictures, who will be debuting the first Hobbs and Shaw trailer. Paramount Pictures is going to have a pre-game spot for its Nickelodeon Movies animated feature Wonder Park. Both Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. have decided to sit it out this year, so don’t expect trailer for Shazam! or Spider-Man: Far From Home.
As for Fox, we might see trailer for Alita: Battle Angel and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
