STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR Star Cameron Monaghan on Whether Cal Kestis Will Make the Jump to Live Action
A lot of Star Wars gaming fans are big fans of Cameron Monaghan’s character Cal Kestis from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. He’s a great character with an interesting story, and fans have been wondering if one day he will show up in live-action form!
There have been lots of rumors about him making an appearance in a couple of Lucasfilm’s series, but there was no truth to those rumors. You’d think that there would have to be some kind of plan to eventually bring this character into a live-action project, but if there is, Monaghan isn’t saying anything!
During a recent interview with EW, the actor was asked what it would mean to him if he ever got the chance to play Cal in live-action, and this was his response:
“I love this character. They're starting to explore him through other mediums — we have a novel coming up. It's been really amazing doing it within the video game space because I think games are vastly under-explored and underutilized, and are only really getting their due in this moment — people are looking at games and seeing they're incredible and moving and significant. So my priority right now is to make sure we have a satisfying arc within the games. What happens or where Star Wars wants to go from there is anybody's guess, but I can say I love Cal and it's been a joy finding him over the past few years. So we'll see.”
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cal makes his live-action debut one day, I just don’t know when it will happen or what series is will be. There are certainly a lot of opportunities, but Lucasfilm needs to find the right one.
Respawn Entertainment has released the trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and it looks great! Are you a fan of Cal Kestis and would you like to see the character get a live-action debut one day? If so, how would you like to see that introduction play out?
