STAR WARS Legend Warwick Davis Addresses THE LAST JEDI Backlash

Warwick Davis has been a part of the Star Wars universe ever since he played the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi in 1983. Since then he has appeared in 1999's Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, 2015's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens, 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and he is set to appear in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

During a recent interview with The List, Davis, who is obviously a fan of the Star Wars franchise, responded to the backlash against The Last Jedi. I know a lot of fans didn't care for the film, but Davis makes a great point about how, we as fans, should be watching these films. Davis went through a more personal Star Wars backlash with Return of the Jedi. As you know, not all of the fans really cared for the Ewoks.

"I wasn't aware it had divided opinion but all movies divide opinion - some people will like it, some people won't. I'll always love 'Star Wars'. It's a piece of entertainment, it's not about making political statements. It's just there for people to enjoy. You go in there and are supposed to lose yourself in the world the director has created. 'Star Wars' has always been a great example of that - it's pure escapism and you can forget the 21st century for a couple of hours. That was George Lucas's philosophy with 'Star Wars' - to make a fun adventure."

I think he makes some good simple points here. What do you think about what he had to say about these Star Wars movies? Should we not be taking them so seriously?
