STAR WARS Movies Will Go on Hiatus After STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Is Released
After Star Wars: Episode IX is released in theaters it sounds like we’re going to have to wait awhile before we see another Star Wars movie.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that Lucasfilm will take some time “pause” and ”reset” the Star Wars films after the Skywalker saga wraps. Iger explained:
“We have not announced any specific plans for movies thereafter. There are movies in development, but we have not announced them.
“We will take a pause, some time, and reset because the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. There will be other Stars Wars movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus.”
It’s not really surprising to hear this. The only Star Wars films that are officially in development are the two new trilogies being created by Rian Johnson and Games of Thrones series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss. It’ll be a couple years before we see what they end up bringing to the franchise.
Luckily we have a couple live-action Star Wars shows coming to Disney+ to help us get our Star Wars fix! There’s The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor series.
I think it’s a good idea for Lucasfilm regroup and figure out the future of the Star Wars film franchise. What do you think?
