STAR WARS Novel Confirms Fan Theory Connection Between Yoda and R2-D2

Star Wars is arguably the richest universe outside our own, with a long history, and characters that weave throughout its timeline. One fan theory that has linked two of the characters since the original film trilogy is the connection between Yoda and R2-D2 when the pair are first seen together in The Empire Strikes Back. Luke and R2 arrive on Dagobah and meet up with Yoda, and of course, by now we know thanks to the prequels films, that Yoda and R2 know one another, but when the film first came out, fans only speculated their knowledge of one another.

Now, in the latest Star Wars novel, From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, written by Jim Zub, we have confirmation. Check out the excerpt below:

“Carefully moving through the swamp while staying beneath the fog, Yoda soon spotted the boy and his droid unpacking their supplies. Even though the droid was caked with algae, dirt, and stomach fluid, its appearance and familiar blips were still quite recognizable.

“R2-D2.

“Of course the boy had Anakin’s old droid with him. Such cycles of fate no longer surprised the nine-hundred-year-old Jedi.”

This isn’t anything major in the way of news, but it is pretty cool to hear that fans were right in knowing the feeling of what was going on inside these characters.
