STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH Beats AVENGERS: ENDGAME in Rotten Tomatoes Summer Movie Poll
Something interesting and unexpected happened during a recent poll from Rotten Tomatoes that ended up pitting Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith against Avengers: Endgame. When the two films found themselves facing off with each other in a bracket to determine the favorite summer blockbuster, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith won! It beat out Avengers: Endgame, which is the highest-grossing movie of all time. I don’t think anyone saw that coming, but it happened.
That showdown earned more than 500,000 votes and the split between the votes swayed 81% to Revenge of the Sith and 19% to Endgame. So, it wasn’t even a close call, Revenge of the Sith obliterated Endgame! The site said:
If the results of Round 3 weren’t wild enough, things really went bananas in Round 4. We here at RT never expected to draw as much attention to this tournament as we got, but Star Wars fans in particular turned out in droves to support their favorite spacefaring heroes, and for a while, all signs seemed to be pointing to an all-Star Wars Final Four. Of course, the internet being what it is, folks with other plans eventually showed up to thwart the galactic four-way face-off, focusing their attention quite pointedly at the match-up between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and The Dark Knight Rises in order to topple the crowning chapter of the prequel trilogy, which is rather harsh, considering May 19 was literally the 15th anniversary of the film’s release. We’ve done a lot of brackets, but we’ve never seen anything like this happen before; needless to say, we’re a little shell-shocked.
After moving up in the bracket, Revenge of the Sith ended up against The Dark Knight Rises, but the buck stopped there. The Dark Knight Rises took it out and moved to the next phase which pits it against The Empire Strikes Back. That’s where the bracket currently stands.
What do you think about Revenge of the Sith beating out Endgame? Do you think it’s a better film than Endgame?
