STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE is a Big Hit For Disney+ with 4.8 Million Views
Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Acolyte is off to a great for Disney+, with the first two episodes generating 4.8 million views on its first day. That makes it the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year.
A lot of people tuned in to watch the series to see what it was going to deliver and it ended up being met with mixed reviews from critics and audiences. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the series goes.
While I was disappointed with the writing and storytelling quality of the first two episodes of the series, I’ll ride the wave to the end to see how the story continues to play out. Maybe the story will get more interesting as it continues.
I imagine there will be a bit of a drop off in viewership as the series continues as that’s normal for most shows. How big of a drop has yet to be seen. But, as of right now, Disney and Lucasfilm are happy with these first initial viewership numbers.
The series was created by Lesley Headland (Russian Doll), and it’s a mystery-thriller that takes viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.
The story follows a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
Cast includes Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) for a few minutes.
