STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE Series Wants to Top the Darth Maul Fight Scene From THE PHANTOM MENACE
One of the most iconic fight sequences in the Star Wars franchise is the "Duel of the Fates" lightsaber fight when Darth Maul faced off with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
It was previously shared that the lightsaber battle by The Phantom Menace served as inspiration for the kinds of battles we’re going to see in The Acolyte.
One of the series’ stars, Manny Jacinto, said: "If you loved that sequence with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. I think you're going to enjoy this show."
Now, in a new interview with series star Entertainment Weekly, series star Dafne Keen said thatThe Acolyte hopes to top Darth Maul’s lightsaber battle.
She said: “Yeah, that was a very frequent conversation we had. It was very much: We want to top the Darth Maul fight—the most iconic fight, I think, in the Star Wars cinematic universe.”
She continued: “It’s such an amazing fight and we were all so excited about the saber fights. There’s such a skill and a craft to it that it feels so OG Star Wars and feels so impressive when you see it as a viewer.”
The question is, will they actually be able to pull that off!? Will The Acolyte really feature lightsaber battles as epic as that Darth Maul fight!?
Co-star Charlie Barnett previously teased: "I will say too — not to shade but we have a lot more tangible physical moves than I saw in that fight. As badass as it is, there's a lot more grounded work that goes into our stunt training and our stunt performances."
It would be pretty cool if the fight scenes ended up being this epic. They are definitely talking the talk, but we’ll just have to wait and see if they actually manage to deliver on the hype.
