STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH Producers Made "Corrections" After #UnwhitewashTheBadBatch Fan Movement
After the first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch hit there was a fan backlash regarding the characters in the show and how their skin color was noticeably lighter than Temuera Morrison, the Māori actor, who famously serves as the inspiration and visage of the clones in most Star Wars media.
A fan movement launched with the #UnwhitewashTheBadBatch and the creative team and producers have now revealed that they’ve corrected the problem. In an interview with Collider, series director Brad Rau said they have darkened the characters in Season 2 and also went back and did the same thing for the characters in Season 1.
"We listened to all the concerns of the fans. Interestingly, in Season 1, before season one came out, we're always doing this, we went back to look at the skin tones, and we made some corrections to make sure that we're being true to the legacy of the clones in Clone Wars. Absolutely, 100%."
The characters that make up The Bad Batch, with the exception of Echo, do appear darker than they did in the first trailer.
Regardless of that, I enjoyed the first season of The Bad Batch, and the first couple of episodes of Season 2 recently dropped on Disney+!
