STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Fans Have Started #ThankYouRianJohnson on Twitter and It's Trending
Fans of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi have taken Twitter by storm with the hashtag #ThankYouRianJohnson. The fans are thanking him for the awesomeness he delivered in The Last Jedi and also many of his other film projects. This is actually a really cool little movement to show Johnson a little love for what he brought to The Last Jedi.
I know there are still people who hate the filmmaker, and many of them are using this little movement to poke fun at him. But the majority is positive and the world could use a little more positivity these days.
After watching all three films in the new Star Wars trilogy, I have to say that The Last Jedi is still my favorite episode. I just liked what Johnson brought to the franchise as it was filled with different and unique concepts that challenged audiences and fans. I also liked that he delivered a film that was completely unexpected and surprising.
I know not everyone will agree with me on that or any of the fans who have shared their thoughts on social media, but that’s ok. We can disagree on something and still be civil, respectful, and friendly toward each other. That’s one of the things I love about true fandom.
I’ve included a bunch of tweets below for you to go through, but the tweets are flooding in by the minute so if you want to read more, head on over here.
#thankyourianjohnson for giving me a Luke Skywalker who's been through some shit. Being a hero isn't easy and carrying the weight of the future is hard for anyone. Luke loses his way and finds his way back. It's a journey so many with depression fight and it matters.

#thankyourianjohnson for being a genuinely welcoming guy who puts up with the film journalists who swarm you at festivals (I’ve seen it first-hand), and for always being gracious and understanding, even when crazy people yell at you on Twitter

#thankyourianjohnson for telling a story women relate to. I felt so heard, so respected, so seen by TLJ. From Rey, to Rose, to Holdo, to Leia, women were there and they felt real. Tlj made me feel like Star Wars was for me, for women. Thank you @rianjohnson

#thankyourianjohnson for taking the first black Star Wars protagonist, a man presented as brave and competent in the first film, and going out of your way to turn him into a literal 19th century caricature of a bumbling black man. Real forward thinking that!
