STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Beats AVENGERS: ENDGAME in First-Hour Ticket Sales

Despite the disgruntled Star Wars fans saying that the franchise would die after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is shaping up to be a massive box office success. It already broke its first ticket sales record.

The Rise of Skywalker beat out Avengers: Endgame and has taken the top spot of first-hour ticket sales. According to online ticket retailer Atom, the final installment of the Skywalker Saga outsold Endgame by a massive 45%.

One of the impressive things about this is that the tickets officially went on sale two hours before that final trailer was released. So, the trailer didn’t give the ticket sales a boost in the beginning.

Avengers: Endgame went on to make $2.79 billion globally and surpass Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time. So, the fact that The Rise of Skywalker is off to a strong start is a good indication that the movie is going to have a very epic box office run!

So, while some Star Wars fans are saying they are going to skip out on this movie, it doesn’t look like it’s going to hurt the success of the film.

The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron’s journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters on December 20, 2019.
