STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is Rumored To Feature a New Way of Force Fighting

During the big Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker panel at Star Wars Celebration, director J.J. Abrams teased some new Force abilities. When asked about it, he said:

"There are some extraordinary things that the character, and Daisy did, but I will say some of the stuff that was possible was [thanks to] the stunt coordinator...who was just amazing. Anyways, yes, there are some other things, and you'll see them soon."

Well, it seems like we might know what one of these new Force abilities are thanks to Making Star Wars. If you don’t want to know any of the rumored information, then stop reading!

According to the report, the film will show off a new ability that is being referred to as “Force Flash Fighting” and it sounds like it will be pretty trippy.

Both Rey and Kylo have become more powerful over time and when they meet again and fight, “the environment changes behind the leads as they battle it out with their lightsabers.” It’s explained that the backgrounds change between places we have seen “throughout Star Wars’ vast locations from the nine part Skywalker saga.” It’s also said that they end up “back where they started and Kylo does something after the encounter.” The report doesn’t say what.

They don’t have any answer on if every strike and clash takes them to a new environment or if they fight in these places for a little bit before being transported to the next one. But, it’s said that the “Wild West stand off” scene in the trailer featuring Rey and Kylo’s TIE Fighter might be one of these moments.

A source says that “Rey damages the TIE and we see Kylo walking away from the TIE in flames.” This source also said “things get trippy when they first clash.”

There are a few other things that they mention, but this is pretty much the most important stuff. However, they do speculate that “perhaps Rey and Kylo first meet and they “Flash Fight” for the first time. Maybe later they use this power against a resurrected Palpatine?”

If this information in all on the level, I’m extremely interested in seeing how this Force Flash Fighting will look visually. I’m imagining some crazy things in my head, but I wonder what J.J. Abrams and his team have come up with for it. Maybe it will be like what Rey experiences when she touched Luke’s Lightsaber for the first time in The Force Awakens. Maybe that was our first glimpse at this “Force Flashing”, but now there will be fighting in it.

What do you all think about this new detail regarding The Rise of Skywalker?
