STAR WARS Toy Documentary PLASTIC GALAXY Is Currently Streaming

Like many of you, I grew up playing with Star Wars toys. I have a lot of fond memories creating my own Star Wars adventures with those toys. Good hell, I wish I hadn't lost them all. They also made George Lucas a shit ton of money! Lucas famously sacrificed a big portion of his salary on the original film in exchange for rights to any Star Wars sequels and merchandising.

A documentary has been released called Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys, which "explores the groundbreaking and breathtaking world of Star Wars toys. Through interviews with former Kenner employees, experts, authors, and collectors, it looks at the toys’ history, their influence, and the fond and fervent feelings they elicit today."

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but it looks great, and I will be checking it out. The doc was directed by Brian Stillman, and it is currently streaming on Vimeo, so you can watch it whenever you want. I also included a 13-minute sneak peek and a trailer for you to watch below.

X-Ray Films is proud to present this SNEAK PEEK TEASER for our upcoming documentary, Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys. These 13 minutes and 24 seconds of preview footage were lovingly selected and randomly assembled for your viewing pleasure, and showcase a few of the collectors, historians, and toy designers that help bring this story to life. We hope you enjoy this small taste of the documentary, which will be available on DVD in January, 2014. Please Note: This footage does not feature final graphics, music, or effects. The stuff you see here was constructed by the film's director, and he's smart enough to hire pros to do the final versions!
