STARGIRL's Wildcat Will Be Played by Brian Stapf

We have our third casting announcement in a week for DC Universe’s Stargirl. The latest news is that Wildcat, aka Ted Grant, will be played by Brian Stapf. Wildcat is part of the Justice Society of America and he will have a recurring role in the series.

In addition to being a founding member of the JSA, Ted is a world-class fighter who mentors Black Canary among other heroes. The report also indicates that Stapf will be portraying the Golden Age version of the character who is a former heavyweight boxer.

Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series. The project focuses on the character that started executive producer Geoff Johns’ career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, lovingly inspired by his late sister, who was killed in a 1996 plane explosion.

Stapf joins the recent announcements of Lou Ferrigno Jr as Hourman and Joel McHale as Starman as original members of the JSA. I imagine that we’ll quickly find out the rest of the cast at this rate. Brec Bassinger was cast as Stargirl and the other cast members include Christopher James Baker, Yvette Monreal, and Anjelika Washington.
