STRANGER THINGS Creator Teases a ‘Far Darker’ Season 5 Vol 2 as New Details Drop
Stranger Things fans are gearing up for a Christmas Day release that sounds like it is about to hit harder than anything the show has delivered before. Co-creator Ross Duffer has been sharing fresh details about Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 and according to him, the final stretch is heading into intense, unsettling territory.
Duffer revealed on Instagram that the team has wrapped work on the upcoming chapters and confirmed that all three episodes will drop on December 25th. He celebrated the milestone by announcing, “Chapters Five, Six and Seven: locked, mixed, scored, colored… Volume Two is DONE.”
He also unveiled each title and offered a peek at what fans can expect tonally from the concluding arc. Episode 5, titled “Shock Jock,” picks up right after the events of “Sorcerer” and marks the return of Frank Darabont to the director’s chair.
According to Duffer, Darabont is exploring a completely different approach this time. “Frank Darabont is back, but he flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on ‘Turnbow Trap’ it’s far darker, and far scarier.”
Considering how intense this season has already become, that promise sets the stage for a seriously unsettling chapter.
Next up is Episode 6, “Escape From Camazotz”, directed by Shawn Levy. Duffer described it as the biggest episode of the trio and praised the cast for delivering some truly moving work.
“It’s the biggest episode of the three and the performances make us cry every time we watch it,” he wrote. Levy has always had a strong handle on the emotional center of this series.
Volume 2 wraps with Episode 7, “The Bridge…”, directed by Ross Duffer, Matt Duffer, and Levy together. While Ross kept story details under wraps, he did tease:
“Don’t want to say too much, but aside from the finale, it’s probably the most emotional chapter of the season.” That to be expected as the series heads toward its final goodbye.
Duffer signed off his update by acknowledging what every fan is about to feel as the date approaches. “It’s gonna be a long six day wait for the finale…”
Netflix has already released Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 and Volume 2 arrives December 25, promising a darker, heavier, and deeply emotional lead up to the end of one of the most beloved genre shows of the last decade.
