Starz Cancels Stephen Amell's HEELS Along with BLINDSPOTTING and RUN THE WORLD

Starz has canceled of of its series, which includes Stephen Amell’s Heels, along with Blindspotting, Run the World, and The Venery of Samantha Bird, which was shut down during the strikes and never even aired its first season. There were only two episodes left in the first season to shoot, but Starz obviously didn’t feel the need to finish what they started.

Heels ran for two seasons and was actually a great show! The series followed the professional wrestlers of the Duffy Wrestling League, a small independent promotion in Georgia. Jack Spade (Amell) inherited the league from his father and the story followed him as he struggled to keep it afloat while also trying to take it to the next level.

Blindspotting was based on the film of the same name. Jasmine Cephas Jones reprised her role from the film as Ashley. “Ashley is striving for a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles (Rafael Casal), her partner of 12 years and father of their son, is locked up unexpectedly.”

Run the World followed a group of friends living in Harlem as they navigate life, careers, and relationships. The show starred Amber Stevens West, Bresha Webb, and Corbin Reid.

The Venery of Samantha Bird was going to star Katherine Langford as the title character. In the series, “Samantha, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.”

The only show I watched of these all the way through was Heels. I liked it and it’s a shame that it’s come to an end.
