Stephen Amell Announces His Wrestling Drama HEELS Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Stephen Amell has announced that his Satz wrestling drama Heels has been renewed for a second season! He shared a brief announcement video on Twitter along with a caption that reads, "I want my belt back." That note is in reference to how his character, Jack Spade, lost the DWL Championship in a Ladder Match in the Season 1 finale.

Amell stars in the show alongside Alexander Ludwig. They play two pro-wrestling brothers, Jack and Ace Spade, and the show tells the story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling.

The series is set in a close-knit Georgia community, and “it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade (Amell) and Ace Spade (Ludwig), war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy (Ludwig) and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.”

The series was created by Michael Waldron, and when previously talking about casting Amell in the role of Jack Spade, he said:

"Well, casting the lead of any show is hard, because they've just got to be an awesome, tremendous actor who can carry a show on their shoulders. Playing Jack Spade, there's the added requirement of you have to have the physicality of a great wrestler. We had to have somebody who could believably pull off this stuff in the ring and outside of the ring, when framed against his wife and kids, and other people in the town, you'd believe this is a pro wrestler who lives here.

"There's not a lot of people who look like that who are also great actors. Steven Amell is one of those people. We were so fortunate to get him, coming off of the success of Arrow, with the ultimate added bonus of the guy loves wrestling. He might be the biggest fan of all of us, and he's actually wrestled with WWE. So I mean, God, we were lucky to get Steve."

I just started watching the show and so far it’s really good. Have you watched Heels? If so, are you happy to learn that Season 2 is coming?
