Stephen Graham To Play Mob Boss Tony Provenzano In THE IRISHMAN
It looks like Martin Scorsese has found the mob boss for his Netflix film The Irishman. Deadline Hollywood reports that Stephen Graham (Snatch, Gang's of New York) has been cast to play a key role of Genovese mob cappo Tony “Pro” Provenzano in The Irishman, a film about the disappearance of union leader Jimmy Hoffa.
Provenzano was a teamster who rose into the top ranks of organized crime and was believed to have played a role in Hoffa’s disappearance. The movie is based on the book "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt, who retells the deathbed confession of hitman Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran, who will be played by Robert De Niro. Sheeran claimed to tell the real story of the disappearance of the former Teamsters boss Hoffa.
Even though the film is being released on Netflix, it is expected to get a small theatrical release to qualify for Oscar season.
