Stephen King Has Written a Surprise Sequel To CUJO Titled RATTLESNAKES
Stephen King is a story-writing machine! He never stops! He’s just got so many stories in his head and he continues to get these stories on paper so that we can all read and enjoy them. He’s already got two new novels coming including Fairy Tale, which is set to come out in the fall, and he’s confirmed that he has already written yet another book about the character Holly Gibney, from the Mr. Mercedes trilogy.
Now, he’s just announced another story that he’s written that’s titled Rattlesnakes, and it serves as a sequel to his classic 1981 story Cujo! I would have never expected that! The news comes from King himself during a recent interview on The Losers’ Club Podcast, and he shared details on the story, saying:
“I just wrote a long story called Rattlesnakes. And it involves, at one part, twins who are only four years old… falling into a rattlesnake pit. And the snakes get ’em. It’s a terrible scene. This novella that I’ve just written, Rattlesnakes… is actually a sequel to Cujo.”
That’s pretty cool! Cujo is one of the few King novels that I’ve never read, but I did see the 1983 movie, which traumatized me as a kid. I watched a lot of movies as a kid that I probably shouldn’t have watched, and this one gave me a fear of dogs for years. I had nightmares about rabid killer dogs for a long time.
Cujo was set in Castle Rock, Maine, and the story centers on a rabid Saint Bernard who torments a mother and her young son. It’ll be interesting to see how this new Rattlesnakes story ends up connecting to this. I’ll be looking forward to reading it so it will give me nightmares about rattlesnakes.
