Stephen King Reveals Which of His Books He Wants to See Adapted into a Movie

Stephen King has a ton of novels and stories that have been adapted into films and TV shows over the years, but there are still so many stories of his that have yet to be adapted. A lot of these stories would make for great films or TV shows, but for some reason, there are novels that no one has touched yet.

During a recent interview with Netflix's Tudum, King was asked what unadapted novel of his he’d like to see made into a movie, and this was his replay:

"I don’t think anybody ever optioned Rose Madder, which I thought would’ve made a great movie.”

Rose Madder was horror/fantasy novel first published in 1995, and the description of the story reads: “Rosie Daniels flees from her husband, Norman after fourteen years in an abusive marriage. During one bout of violence, Norman caused Rosie to miscarry their only child. Escaping to a distant city, Rosie establishes a new life and forges new relationships. Norman Daniels, a police officer with a reputation for cruelty, uses his law-enforcement connections to track his wayward wife.”

It’s a great story, and it definitely would make a really good film. King went on to talk about what it’s like for him to see his books picked up and adapted saying:

"I’ve always thought of it as you want the best for it. It’s like sending a kid to college. You hope that they won’t get into any trouble, that they won’t get into drugs, or get into a bad relationship or get thrown out, but at some point you just have to let it go. There are movies that I absolutely love – and you probably know what they are – and there are movies that I don’t. But either way, the book remains. The book is the boss."

I’m sure one day Rose Madder will get a film adaptation, but there are a lot of other King books I’d like to see adapted as well! A few of my favorites include Insomnia, The Regulators, Black House, Blaze, Rage, The Long Walk, The Eyes of the Dragon, and more!

What are some Stephen King stories you’d like to see get adapted?
