Stephen King's CARRIE is Being Developed as a TV Series at FX
FX and MGM are teaming up to develop a limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s classic horror novel Carrie. The novel originally got a feature film adaptation in 1976 by Brian De Palma. In 1999 there was a stupid sequel made titled The Rage: Carrie 2 and then in 2013 there was the Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore film.
FX is going to try something new with this adaptation. There’s no script yet, but according to Collider, “this time around, telekinetic teen Carrie White will likely be played by either a trans performer or an actress of color rather than a cis white woman, as in past adaptations.”
It would have been funny if they switched the character up and made Carrie a man instead of a woman. That would have caused some controversy!
FX has a great track record with the shows that they produce. They always tend to deliver good quality and solid shows, so chances are this series is going to turn out to be something worth watching. I like that the novel will be adapted into a series because it will allow for the creative team to really dive into the story and the characters the fill it.
