Stephen King's CASTLE ROCK Season 2 is Inspired By MISERY and Tim Robbins, Lizzy Caplan, Garrett Hedlund Join The Cast

I’m a big fan of the first season of Hulu’s psychological horror series Castle Rock, and as season two is gearing up for production we have some great casting news to share with you.

According to Deadline, Castle Rock season two will include Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), and Elsie Fisher (Eight Grade). They will join series regulars Yusra Warsama (Assassin’s Creed: Origins)Barkhad Abdi (Blade Runner 2049), and Matthew Alan (13 Reasons Why).

We’ve also got some interesting details on the characters and the story that Stephen King fans will love.

Season two is said to focus on “a feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes.” That’s right! The sadistic nurse from Misery will be coming to Castle Rock and she will be played by Caplan.

It’s explained that Caplan’s Annie Wilkes is “a nurse and superfan battling to overcome mental health issues.”

Robbins is playing Reginald “Pop” Merrill, “The Patriarch of Stephen King’s iconic crime family, Pop is dying of cancer and at a reckoning with his family.”

Hedlund is taking on the role of John “Ace” Merril from Stand By Me, “Castle Rock’s legendary bully, Ace is taking over his uncle Pop’s businesses and threatening a fragile peace with nearby Jerusalem’s Lot.”

Fisher is going to play Joy, “Annie’s home-schooled teenage daughter, Joy is starting to have questions about her mother’s sanity.”

Warsam plays Dr. Nadia Omar, “The Harvard-trained Somali medical director of a rural hospital in Jerusalem’s Lot, Dr. Omar’s rational and scientific mind will be put to the test.”

Abdi will portray Abdi Omar, “The tough, older brother of Nadia, Abdi leads the charge to build a Somali community center that will deepen the roots of his people in Maine.”

Then there’s Alan, who plays Chris Merrill, “Pop’s nephew and Ace’s brother, Chris struggles to keep peace between the Merrills and the Somali community.”

J.J. Abrams is producing the series with King, and it was created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason. This new casting and character information certainly got me super excited for what is to come!
