Stephen King’s Richard “Crystal Ball” King Character Joins the G.I. Joe Classified Series

Hasbro has just revelaed a wild new G.I. Joe Classified action figure that I didn’t see coming! They‘re reaching deep into the vaults of ‘80s nostalgia and pulled out Richard “Crystal Ball” King. This is a cool-looking figure!

If you’re a die-hard Joe collector you’ll appreciate this bizarrely awesome action figure. Crystal Ball is described as Cobra’s own Rasputin, he’s a mind-manipulating mystic with a Vincent Price-like face and it has a interestying backstory tied to Stephen King.

So, how did King end up influencing a G.I. Joe character? Turns out, his son Owen was a huge fan of the franchise and wanted a magician in the lineup. That little wish led to King contributing to the creation of Crystal Ball, even writing the original file card for the character.

Crystal Ball is also said to be the seventh son of a seventh son, a phrase that just so happens to be the title of Iron Maiden’s 1988 album, released right around the time the character was introduced.

The G.I. Joe Classified Series has been on a roll, and this one continues the streak. The detail, the design makes it one of the standout figures in the lineup. If you want to add this eerie, mind-bending Cobra operative to your collection, keep your eyes peeled for pre-orders because this one won’t last long.
