Stephen Soderbergh Set to Direct Channing Tatum in First Feature Film Since He Retired

About three years ago, Stephen Soderbergh announced that he was retiring from making feature films. Since then he's been developing TV series and movies for cable channels like Cinemax and HBO. His retirement didn't last that long, and he's developing a new feature film. Variety says the film is called Hillbilly Heist, while Deadline says that it's called Logan Lucky.

There are two conflicting reports, but both say that Channing Tatum is set to star in the film. Then Variety says that Matt Damon will co-star in the film. As for Deadline, they say that Michael Shannon is in it and not Damon. Hell, maybe these are two separate movies that Soderbergh is developing?!

There are no details on the story, but sources say Soderbergh fell in love with the premise of the story when he got his hands on the script for the project. Soderbergh is a talented filmmaker and he seems like the kind of storyteller who would never retire from telling great stories. It's good to see that he hasn't really retired.

The last theatrical film Soderbergh made was Side Effects back in 2013 with Rooney Mara and Tatum, and he directed the HBO movie Behind The Candelabra that same year. The writer and director will continue to move forward on his current projects, which include the third season of The Knick and the HBO series Mosaic

I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out and which one of these projects is the actual film Soderbergh is working on.
