Steve Carell is Set To Star in Apple's Untitled Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston

Steve Carell is set to star alongside Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston in Apple’s untitled morning show drama series. This will make it the first time Carell has starred in a TV series since he left The Office.

The series is an original concept that provides “an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.”

Carell will take on the role of Mitch Kessler, “a morning show anchor who is struggling to maintain relevance in a changing media landscape.”

So, it’s basically going to be a much more serious version of of Anchorman. The show is being written by Kerry Ehrin (Bates Motel) based on an idea by Michael Ellenberg (Stoker, The Leftovers) and directed by Mimi Leder (Shameless, The Leftovers).

The series is scheduled to start shooting in Los Angeles next week.
