Steve Carrell is a Therapist Held Captive by a Serial Killer in Trailer for FX's Psychological Thriller THE PATIENT

FX has released a trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller series The Patient. The limited series stars Steve Carell as a therapist named Alan Strauss, who is held captive by a serial killer who wants his help. The killer is played by Domhnall Gleeson.

The Patient is “a psychological thriller about a therapist who is held prisoner by patient Sam Fortner who reveals himself to be a serial killer. With time running out, Alan fights desperately to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam's murders or worse – becomes a target himself.”

This looks like a great show which tells an extremely intense story. Then you’ve got Carrell and Gleeson, who are going to give strong performances.

The series was created by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, who previously worked together on the the FX drama The Americans. It also stars Andrew Leeds (Barry, The Dropout) as Strauss’ estranged son, David Alan Grier (Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!) as his old therapist, Linda Emond (The Gilded Age, The Unforgivable) as his mother Candance and Laura Niemi (This Is Us, Those Who Wish Me Dead) as his recently deceased wife.

The Patient premieres on August 30th, and will run for 10 episodes on Hulu.
