Steven Moffat Wants to Give Fans a DOCTOR WHO and SHERLOCK Crossover
Two of the most popular shows produced by the BBC right now are Doctor Who and Sherlock. Both shows are overseen by Steven Moffat and his partner Mark Gatiss. This has led to a lot of fan speculation that maybe one day we might see a crossover episode. Well, it sounds like that could actually happen. In a interview with EW, Moffat reveals that if this is something the fans want, he should give it to them. Of course, not everyone involved with the series is on board with the idea.
My instinct—and this is probably from years of doing Doctor Who—is I’m just such a tart. If people want to, we should give it to them. But I got persuaded by Mark, Benedict, [executive producer Sue Vertue] and Martin saying, “Look, it will never be as good as they think it’s going to be,” and then I say, “Yes, but we’ll just bang it out and make it as good.” “Yeah, but you can’t give everybody everything they want all the time.” I’m in the camp of giving them everything they want. But I think they’re sane and right and I’m just a tart.
So this could actually happen... if Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and others stop trying to talk him out of it! That's not fair, just embrace the idea and let him do it! A Sherlock and Doctor Who crossover could be absolutely incredible! I don't know about you, but it just makes complete sense in my mind, and it needs to happen.
I've included a great fan-made short film called "Wholock" that features the two shows colliding. Would you be up for an actual crossover event?
