Steven Spielberg Shares Photos and Lovely Remarks as the Filming of WEST SIDE STORY Comes to a Close
Production wrapped over the weekend for the latest film version of Westside Story, with the great Steven Spielberg at the helm. While the director, editors, cinematographers, and musicians who are making the classic musical come to life still have a full year of work ahead of them, the film is in the can, and Spielberg has nothing but wonderful things to say about the actors and crew that made it happen.
In a recent twitter post by Amblin studios, owned by the director, Spielberg posted photos and sentiments about the experience. Here’s what he had to say in the post:
“This has been a journey without precedence: a joyful, stunning, moving, endlessly surprising encounter with the story and score of one of the world’s greatest musicals,” Spielberg wrote in his letter. “My brilliantly talented, fiercely committed, generous and apparently inexhaustible cast and crew of hundreds have given our film everything they’ve got, and already I can say that the film we’ll be releasing on December 18, 2020, owes everything to them as does its immensely grateful director.”
He went on to thank the creators before him that made the musical, and the New York cities where they filmed that brought beauty and heart to the movie. I’m so excited to see this movie. I love the music so much, and I trust that under the direction of Spielberg, we will end up with something really special.
West Side Story hits theaters one week before Christmas next year on December 18, 2020. Check out the photos and full statement in the post below, and let us know if you’re excited!
