Steven Spielberg’s DISCLOSURE DAY Trailer Finally Reveals a Creepy Alien Presence

Steven Spielberg has been playing things very close to the chest with his upcoming sci-fi mystery Disclosure Day, especially when it comes to what kind of extraterrestrial force is at the center of the story. Up until now, the marketing has danced around the details. That’s changed… at least a little.

The latest teaser trailer slips in a moment around the 25-second mark, we get a quick but unsettling glimpse of a creature. Its ultra-thin fingers slowly wrap around a child’s face in a way that feels more eerie than friendly.

It’s a far cry from the warm, inviting alien audiences might associate with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial or even the mysterious visitors from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

What’s interesting is that while this teaser gives us a peek, it doesn’t explain anything. The alien’s motives remain completely unknown, and that mystery seems to be a core part of the film’s hook.

The story follows Josh O'Connor’s character Daniel, who starts digging into what looks like a massive, possibly cosmic conspiracy. That investigation is sparked after Emily Blunt’s Margaret, a weather reporter, unknowingly transmits an alien message in a strange voice.

Even with this reveal making the rounds online, Spielberg insists there’s still a lot being held back. Speaking at CinemaCon, he made it clear the trailers aren’t giving away the big picture, especially when it comes to the final act. So while audiences now know there’s something out there, the real nature of the threat is still a mystery.

Disclosure Day also features Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, and it’s set to hit theaters on June 12.
