Steven Spielberg’s THE DINOSUARS Stomps Onto Netflix With an Epic New Trailer

Netflix is heading way back in time with The Dinosaurs, a new documentary TV series executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and the newly released trailer teases pretty cool and massive eperience.

The four-episode event comes from the same creative force that delivered Life on Our Planet and is set to start streaming on Netflix on March 6, 2026.

This marks another collaboration between Spielberg and the streamer following 2023’s Life on Our Planet, and judging by the footage, this series is leaning hard into scale, spectacle, and jaw-dropping prehistoric detail.

The official description sets the tone perfectly: “Welcome to The Dinosaurs — an epic journey into a lost world. From Amblin Documentaries and the award-winning team behind Life on Our Planet, this groundbreaking documentary series follows the rise and fall of the dinosaurs across hundreds of millions of years.”

The trailer showcases stunning CGI created by Industrial Light & Magic, and yeah, it looks incredible. These creatures feel alive, dangerous, and awe-inspiring, moving through environments that feel fully realized and brutal in their beauty.

Guiding viewers through this prehistoric saga is Morgan Freeman, whose voice adds gravitas and warmth to the experience. This also makes The Dinosaurs the third Netflix docuseries narrated by Freeman after Our Universe and Life on Our Planet.

Creature-wise, the trailer teases a seriously cool lineup. Viewers will encounter everything from early ancestors like Marasuchus to giants like Plateosaurus and Mamenchisaurus.

There’s also time spent with Tyrannosaurus rex, plus marine and feathered species including Pliosaurus, Anchiornis, and Longipteryx. It’s a wide-ranging look at how dinosaurs evolved, dominated, and eventually vanished.

The showrunners are Dan Tapster, Keith Scholey, and Alastair Fothergill, with Nick Shoolingin-Jordan directing. Spielberg serves as executive producer and the music comes from composer Lorne Balfe. This is a collaboration between Silverback Films and Amblin Documentaries.

The Dinosaurs looks like a full-on cinematic experience built for dinosaur fans.
