Story Details For Disney’s CRUELLA Reveals How Emma Stone Becomes The Classic Villain
Thanks to The DisInsider, we have some new details to share with you regarding Disney’s upcoming film Cruella, which tells the story of the classic villain Cruella De Vil. The movie is being helmed by Craig Gillespie (Fright Night, I, Tonya) and Emma Stone is taking on the title role.
The new details that have been shared reveal some story details and they shed some light on the origin of Cruella revealing how her past leads her down the road to her dark and villainous future.
"Teenaged Estella has a dream. She wishes to become a fashion designer, having been gifted with talent, innovation, and ambition all in equal measures. But life seems intent on making sure her dreams never come true. Having wound up penniless and orphaned in London at twelve, four years later Estella runs wild through the city streets with her best friends and partners-in-(petty)-crime, Horace and Jasper, two amateur thieves."
"When a chance encounter vaults Estella into the world of the young rich and famous, however, she begins to question the existence she’s built for herself in London and wonders whether she might, indeed, be destined for more after all. When an up-and-coming rockstar commissions Estella to design him a signature piece, she begins to feel as though she has truly arrived."
"But what is the cost of keeping up with the fast crowd– and is it a price Estella is willing to pay?"
It sounds like Cruella’s journey takes her down an interesting road that leads her into madness and villainy. I wonder if the film will lead to some kind of redemption story where she ends up saving the day and being more of an anti-hero like what they did with Maleficent. I guess we’ll find out! I hope the film ends up being good, I think Stone is perfect for this role!
Horace and Jasper will be played by Paul Walter Hauser (BlacKkKlansman) and Joel Fry (Game of Thrones), respectively. The film also stars Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) as a new character, Baroness.
Cruella is still scheduled to be released on May 28, 2021, but with no sign of a trailer or anything beyond that first official image, it seems like Disney will end up pushing the release of the film back.
