STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON Screenwriter Will Take on GHOST IN THE SHELL

The live-action adaptation of the classic anime Ghost in the Shell just hired Straight Outta Compton screenwriter Jonathan Herman to rewrite the script. I thought the script for Straight Outta Compton was great, and I think it's fantastic that DreamWorks brought him on board this project.

Scarlett Johansson was will star in the film, and she'll play a special ops cyborg who leads an elite task force called Section 9 for Hanka Robotics. THR says, "Section 9 is devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, led by The Laughing Man, whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka’s advancements in cyber technology."

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) is set to direct the movie. He's got a great visual eye, so with a polished script by Herman, there's a chance this movie could turn out to be decent. The film is scheduled to go into production in New Zealand in early 2016 and it will be released in theaters on March 31st, 2017.
