STRANGER THINGS Actor Charlie Heaton in Talks To Play Cannonball in NEW MUTANTS
There have already been talks of Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton possibly being involved in the director Josh Boone's New Mutants film. Well, it looks like all that talk is true because today Variety is reporting that he is in negotiations with Fox to play the hot-headed southern boy Cannonball.
Cannonball is known for his catchphrase "I'm unstoppable when ah'm blasting" and he's also known for his ability to blast himself forward much like a cannonball. Heaton just finished shooting Stranger Things Season 2 and I think Cannonball could be a great role for him. He has the right look for it, and it will allow him to show he has more than just creepy pariah on his resume of characters to play.
Cannonball, also known as Sam Guthrie, comes from a family that he cares deeply about and has a cocky attitude and dopey grin. Recently in the comics, he's been commuting between space and Earth to help protect another planet, but original Cannonball was all fun. I think it will be great to see him cast, so hopefully the negotiations go well!
Heaton will join Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) who was cast in the role of Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor-Joy (Split) will play Magik. Rosario Dawson is also looking to join the project as well.
