STRANGER THINGS Director Shawn Levy in Talks To Helm a Sci-Fi Film Described as STAND BY ME Set on The Moon
Stranger Things producer and director Shawn Levy is looking to team up with Fox on a new sci-fi film project called Crater. According to Variety, the film is a "coming-of-age story in the vein of Stand By Me, set on a moon colony." Color me intrigued!
The spec script, which was voted #1 on the Tracking Board’s 2015 Hit List and was #5 on the 2015 Black List, was written by John J. Griffin. This is the description of the story that was released:
After the death of his father, a boy growing up on a lunar mining colony takes a trip to explore a mysterious crater, along with his four best friends, prior to being permanently relocated to another planet.
I love what I'm hearing and this seems like it would be an awesome project for Shawn Levy to take on! Sounds like the kind of film that he could also cast some of his young Stranger Things actors in it if he wanted to.
The movie is set to be executive produced by VFX vet Rpin Suwannath, who has worked on a ton of films over the course of his career including all of the X-Men films that have been made. Crater will be his first feature film producing gig.
I love the initial concept of this movie, and I'm excited to see how it comes together. What do you think about this film project?
