STRANGER THINGS Director Uta Briesewitz to Helm First Two Episodes of THE WHEEL OF TIME Adaptation

Several months ago, Amazon announced plans to adapt Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy novel series The Wheel of Time. Rafe Judkins was brought on to do the adaptation and now Uta Briesewitz (Stranger Things, Westworld, Jessic Jones) has been brought on to direct the first two episodes according to Deadline. No word has been given on casting or a release date, but we do know that the episodes will be an hour.

The Wheel of Time is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the ‘Aes Sedai’ as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine believes one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it. The series draws on numerous elements of European and Asian culture and philosophy, most notably the cyclical nature of time found in Buddhism and Hinduism.

With 14 books in the series, I think it’s safe to assume that we’ll get 14 seasons of the show. Would you be interested in such an epic show? Who would you like to see cast in the adaptation?
