STRANGER THINGS EW Cover; Creators Discuss the New Challenges of Season 2
EW has released the cover for their upcoming issue featuring the young actors of Stranger Things Season 2. Those actors include Millie Bobby Brown, who's sporting a new hairstyle, Galan Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp. They also talked to the cast and crew of the series who discuss the expectations of season 2 and the new challenges that face them as they develop it.
The first season of this series started out so strong, and Matarazzo jokes, "I always joke around with [show creators the Duffer Bro.], ‘Why couldn’t you make the first season just okay?’ It’s like how they never expected Barb to be a hit — they never expected the show to be as successful."
Now the show is a success, and they are in a difficult position where fans are expecting more greatness. They have to try and top what they did in season one. David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Hopper in the series, says, "It’s really permeated the culture. People love the characters so much, and they have such an emotional response."
When talking about dealing with the challenges of developing season two, executive producer Shawn Levy says, "That is the new challenge of season two: quieting the cultural noise that surrounds our show." Good luck with that! Co-creator Ross Duffer goes on to add:
“It’s a balance of the comfort you’re familiar with but then trying to take it in new directions. That’s what we’re trying to strike with season 2.”
I have a feeling this team is going to be able to pull off some great things with season two, things that will once again blow the minds of their fans. They seem to have a solid idea of what they want to accomplish. Stranger Things season two consists of nine episode that will premiere on Netflix on Halloween, October 31, 2017.
