STRANGER THINGS Has Been Renewed for a Fifth and Final Season at Netflix
Today is a big day in the way of news for fans of Stranger Things. We heard that the show’s fourth season has a release date, or two release dates, as the season will return in two parts. The first dropping this May, and the second in July. We got to check out a few new posters for the series as well. The tagline on each poster says, “Every Ending Has A Beginning,” and now the news has dropped that this series also knows when it will come to an end.
In a report from Variety, we learned that Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a fifth and final season. While this is bittersweet news for fans, we knew that this smart show wasn’t going to drag out just because of its popularity. Creators of the series The Duffer Brothers said from the beginning that they knew the general outline of how the story would play out.
In a letter to fans, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer unveiled the big news, saying:
“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for ‘Stranger Things.' At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.”
They continued:
“There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of ‘Stranger Things’; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.”
Season 4 of Stranger Things will premiere after a long delay; the third season dropped on Netflix more than two-and-half years ago. The show’s ending makes sense considering its young cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo have grown up before our eyes, and are not the children they were in Season 1. But it sure has been fun to watch them evolve and tell this original story.
The series also stars Sadie Sink as Max, Joe Keery as Steve, Natalia Dyer as Nancy, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan and Maya Hawke as Robin. Season 4 will also feature Priah Ferguson, Eduardo Franco, Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Quinn, Mason Dye, Robert Englund, Tom Wlaschiha, Sherman Augustus, Nikola Djuricko, Joel Stoffer, Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen and Grace Van Dien.
Stranger Things Season 4 part 1 will debut on May 27th, and part 2 will launch July 1st on Netflix.
