STRANGER THINGS Season 2: Details About Three Newly-Announced Characters
Stranger Things season 2 was officially announced yesterday, and TVLine has acquired some information about three "major" new characters who will be added to the mix in the upcoming nine-episode season.
First up, there's a 12-14 year-old girl named Max, who's described a “tough and confident” and whose “appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” Unlike Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will from the first season, Max prefers riding around Hawkins, Indiana on a skateboard. TVLine also reminds us that the first episode of season 2, as revealed in yesterday's teaser, is "MadMax," so it seems like we'll get introduced to her very early on. It's possible (but seems unlikely) that Eleven may not be around much in season 2, so it's good to know there will be another female presence in that subplot.
Then there's Billy, Max's "very muscular and hyper-confident" older brother, who drives a Camaro. It seems obvious to me that he'll be interacting with Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Jonathan Byers, and the older teens of the show.
And finally, there's the gender-neutral role of Roman, a character who "suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since." Fascinating. I wonder if that "great loss" has anything to do with MK-ULTRA and the experiments Dr. Brenner was working on in season 1?
