STRANGER THINGS Season 2 Fan-Favorite Character Erica Will Be Back For Season 3
One of the most entertaining new characters introduced in Stranger Things Season 2 was Lucas' little sister, Erica. She was great! It was so much fun watching her antagonizing her brother and his friends every chance that she got.
With all of the crazy stuff that is going on with Lucas and his friends in the little town of Hawkins, everyone else is living everyday lives without feeling the threat of the Upside Down. Erica is one of those characters that pulls the audience back into the normality of everyone else's life.
She's not in the series very long, but she certainly made an impact and the fans seemed to love her. Well, you'll be happy to hear that that actress Priah Ferguson will be back in the role of Erica in Season 3! During an interview with Yahoo!, co-creator Matt Duffer talked about casting Ferguson in the role, saying:
“I love Erica. [Ferguson] was just a local hire we made in Atlanta. Erica wasn’t even supposed to be in [Season 2] as much as she was. We fell in love with this girl.”
Ross Duffer then went on to talk about their plans for bringing the character back, saying:
“There will definitely be more Erica in Season 3. That is the fun thing about the show — you discover stuff as you’re filming. We were able to integrate more of her in, but not as much you want because the story [was] already going. ‘We got to use more Erica’ — that was one of the first things we said in the writers’ room.”
In a separate interview with Vulture, Ferguson herself talked about her character saying it would be great to come back and maybe even join the group in one of their dangerous adventures:
“It would be cool if I were back, and maybe also get into fighting the demogorgons, because my response from when I was looking through Lucas’ room for He-Man, I think is a little clue that Erica may be sneaky and may find something from the demogorgon.”
It will be fun to see what the Duffer Bros. end up doing with Erica next season. She just has such a great personality and witty attitude. Would you like to see her have a bigger role to play in the story next season?
