STRANGER THINGS Season One Production Had to Be Shut Down One Day When One of the Kids Wouldn't Stop Farting

Stranger Things has been one of the highest quality and most well-received series ever to come to a streaming service. The Netflix show was released in 2016, and the bingeable seasons have kept fans engaged and anticipating the fifth and final chapter, which is set to drop next year. But one of the coolest aspects of the show has been watching the young cast grow up from season to season, and hearing the silly behind the scenes stories from the making of the series.

The youngest members of the cast were between the ages of eleven and fourteen when the first season came out, so you can imagine that they had a lot to learn, and a lot of silly moments to power through. One such moment was documented back in 2016, in a recurring column on EW.com, in which the creators of the show, The Duffer Brothers, shared behind the scenes stories from each episode, and they revealed that in season 1, episode 7, a set actually had to be evacuated because of a young actor’s flatulence.

"We're shooting a scene in the abandoned bus, and one of the boys decides to fart. More than once. It became so toxic in the bus that the crew had to temporarily evacuate. We had a pep talk the next day that basically boiled down to: 'We're right at the end. Don't drop the ball. Let's bring this home.' Generic middle school sports coach speech, we know, but it worked. After our little talk, the boys rallied together, 'Focus!'-ed, and did some of their best, most emotional work on the show. We're proud of them for so many reasons, and this is one of them. It's such a great group of future stars. Farting aside."

That’s a great story! It would be even funnier if we were told who the culprit was, but it’s cool of the directors not to out them. I bet whoever it was would own up to it all these years later though! It makes the serious bus scene a lot funnier for the next time you sit down to watch.

Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are currently streaming on Netflix, and Season 5 is set to hit in 2024.
