STRANGER THINGS: TALES FROM '85 Showrunner Says the Animated Show "Feels Like a Lost Season" of STRANGER THINGS

For fans still reeling from the ending of Stranger Things, we have a new series set in that universe to look forward to, and that’s the animated show Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85.

While it’s not the same format as the flagship series, it has the same characters we know and love, and according to showrunner Eric Robles, it will feel very much like the first seasons of the series we fell in love with.

The series is expected to give us fresh adventures in the Upside Down and beyond, bringing new monster encounters with your favorite characters.

As that title states, the series is set in 1985, between the events of Stranger Things Seasons 2 and 3, with our BMX-riding heroes battling a never-before-seen Demo-creature. And while it’s presented in a different medium, it’s very much in the realm of the main series.

Robles explained to Empire in their latest edition, “You could easily take this and make it the live-action version. We wanted to go back to Hawkins and feel like a lost season.” It harks back, he says to “when the kids weren’t trying to save the world — they were just trying to save the town.”

The extra-dimensional beast they’re facing this time is a sneaky terror, chomping unsuspecting residents from right under their feet.

“It’s winter time in Hawkins. The whole town’s covered in this ocean of snow. And that brings new dangers,” teases Robles. “I’m a huge fan of Jaws and this became our version.” Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Hawkins, Indiana.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 hits Netflix on April 23rd.
