STRANGER THINGS Writers Reveal a More Gruesome End to Sean Astin's Bob That Almost Happened in Season 2
One of the most upsetting things to happen on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was the demise of hero Bob, played by fan-favorite actor Sean Astin. He played the sweet boyfriend of Will’s mom, Joyce (Winona Ryder), and he spent the season connecting with Will during a difficult time in his life. He went with his friends to Hawkins Lab to rescue Will and escape from the Demodogs, but he only was able to accomplish the first after restoring power to the building. He finished strong, making his mark as a hero in the Stranger Things lore.
But as it turns out, Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, revealed that Bob’s demise was almost a whole lot darker. In a recent post from the Stranger Things writers Twitter account, they said:
Whoa! That’s hardcore, and I am glad they didn’t go that route purely because Will doesn’t need any more emotional baggage. That poor kid is messed up enough. It would have been so sad to put the death of Bob on his shoulders as well. I hate that Bob had to die, but they did it the right way. He always wanted to be a hero, and he accomplished that for sure.
