Strap in Douche Waffles and Watch The Crazy Trailer For Netflix's Genre-Bending Series DAYBREAK
Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for an insanely wild looking post-apocalyptic comedy adventure series called Daybreak. The series is based on a graphic novel by Brian Ralph and it looks super weird yet incredibly fun.
Daybreak is described as “a genre-bending series and subversive dark comedy” and the story “finds 17-year-old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Joined by a ragtag group of misfits including a pyromaniac 12 year old Angelica and Josh’s former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist samurai, Josh tries to stay alive amongst the horde of Mad Max-style gangs (evil jocks, cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors), zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at him.”
It’s funny because I grew up in Glendale, CA and this setting looks nothing like it. But, it’s all in good fun and obviously a very fictionalized version of Glendale.
The series stars Colin Ford (We Bought a Zoo) as Josh Wheeler and Matthew Broderick as Principal Burr. As you might expect, the series will feature references to Broderick’s classic 80s movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The series also stars Alyvia Alyn Lind as Angelica, Sophie Simnett as Sam Dean, Gregory Kasyan as Eli Cardashyan, Krysta Rodriguez as Ms. Crumble, Jeanté Godlock as Mona Lisa and Cody Kearsley as Turbo Bro Jock.
The 10-episode series will be released on October 24th. Enjoy the trailer!
