STUART SAVE THE UNIVERSE Trailer Throws THE BIG BANG THEORY Into a Wild Multiverse Adventure
The world of The Big Bang Theory is about to get a whole lot weirder. HBO Max has released the first trailer and key art for Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, a new comedy series that puts one of the franchise’s most lovable underdogs front and center.
After spending years as the struggling owner of the comic book shop frequented by Sheldon, Leonard, and the gang, Stuart Bloom is finally getting his own story. Unfortunately for him, it involves accidentally helping trigger a multiverse catastrophe.
The upcoming 10-episode series follows Stuart as he's forced into an unexpected mission to repair reality itself.
According to the official premise, Stuart breaks a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, setting off a chain reaction that unleashes a full-blown “multiverse Armageddon.”
If you're thinking Stuart seems like the least qualified person imaginable to fix that problem, the title already tells you how things are likely to go.
Joining Stuart on his reality-hopping adventure are several familiar faces from The Big Bang Theory universe. His girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert, and quantum physicist Barry Kripke are all dragged into the chaos as they attempt to navigate alternate realities and save existence.
Along the way, fans can also expect to encounter alternate-universe versions of characters they already know from the original series.
The show stars Kevin Sussman as Stuart, alongside Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Kripke.
While The Big Bang Theory largely stayed grounded in sitcom territory, Stuart Fails To Save The Universe is embracing science fiction in a much bigger way. The trailer teases alternate timelines, strange realities, and the kind of multiversal insanity that feels right at home in a comic book shop owner's nightmare.
The series comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady created the show, wrote it, and serve as executive producers. Kyle Newacheck executive produces and directs multiple episodes.
This looks like a fun opportunity to revisit the Big Bang Theory universe from a completely different angle while giving some of the franchise’s most entertaining supporting characters a chance to take the spotlight.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe premieres on HBO Max on Thursday, July 23 at 9pm., with new episodes releasing weekly on Thursdays.
