Studio Ghibli's SPIRITED AWAY Stage Play is Coming To America Thanks To a Theatrical Event

Get ready for a theatrical experience that will transport you to the fantastical world of Hayao Miyazaki's beloved, award-winning film Spirited Away. If you've been wanting to see the live stage play version of Spirited Away, which is currently playing in Japan, your wish to view the magical adventure is coming true, as it’s finally coming to America, thanks to a theatrical event.

Gkids is hosting the event and there will be two distinct performances with different casts led by the talented Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, who both play Chihiro.

Spirited Away follows 10-year-old Chihiro who moves to a new home with her parents. After they get lost in a mysterious world and her parents are turned into pigs, the young girl must survive in the strange fantasy world filled with witches, spirits, and bathhouses, and return to the human world.

This theatrical version of the play was filmed during the production’s 2022 run at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo. This is pretty cool and I’m it will be a great experience for fans to witness the magic and beauty of the Spirited Away stage play, which will be brought to life with excellent performances, puppets, and special effects.

The stageplay has been adapted and directed by Tony Award-winner John Caird. Both productions of Spirited Away: Live on Stage will be coming to U.S. movie theaters this spring.
